Why do we pray?

Why do we pray?

Here are 15 reasons.

01 God has always asked His people to pray. Check it out in Scripture.

02 Jesus prayed, sometimes all night long, and He is our model.We do what He did.

03 The tradition of prayer has been a cornerstone of the faith thru history.

04 God’s people scattered throughout the Bible were always praying.

05 Prayer ushers us into God’s presence.

06 We are told, “Pray always.” (1 Thess. 5:17)

07 Prayer reins in our overactive, worry-prone control-oriented minds.

08 We remind ourselves of Jesus’ Lordship as we pray. It helps us not be presumptuous.

09 We align ourselves with the Spirit, allowing Him to counsel us.

10 We learn to recognize Jesus’ voice as we pray (“My sheep hear my voice”).

11 We bring our petitions to God and He answers them. (2 Thess. 1:11)

12 God deserves our praise. We glorify Him as we pray. (2 Thess. 1:12)

13 Where the Church is advancing around the world, people are praying.

14 The whole Bible is the product of prayer. God revealing stuff to men & them writing it down.

15 The early disciples prayed all the time. They prayed continually for days after Jesus ascended.

Hoe kijk jij naar andere mensen?

Bouw je mensen op of breek je ze juist af?

Jezus zegt in de Bijbel:

'Heb God lief boven alles en je naaste als jezelf.' 'Wat je zaait zul je oogsten.'

Wat zaai jij?

Zaai je roddels, wrok, afgunst en egoïsme?

Of volg je Jezus en zaai je liefde, vrede, vreugde, vrijheid, vergeving en bewogenheid?

Als je Jezus volgt dan bouw je op.

In je eigen leven.

En in dat van anderen.

En ontstaan er ongekende mogelijkheden.

Kijk goed!

Kijk daarom goed naar de mensen om je heen.

Ze zijn geen toeval.

God heeft ze jou gegeven.

Elke ontmoeting

Hoe kort ook, is niet voor niets.

Hoe sta jij hierin?

Hoe ga je om met familie, vrienden en buren?

Met collega's?

Mensen in de kerk, of daarbuiten?

Mensen op vakantie?

En nog een stap verder:

Hoe ga je om met zwervers, zieken, eenzamen?

Keer je ze de rug toe?

Of ben je bereid tijd en aandacht aan hen te geven?

Wat zou Jezus doen?

Jezus zegt: 'Alles wat je aan hen geeft geef je aan Mij."
